Wintergarden Food Pantry Receives a New Van

Updated: 1 day ago

In the summer of 2024, the Wintergarden Food Pantry was invited to participate in a strategic initiative with Harry Chapin Food Bank to learn more about creating a system that is more sustainable so our community is fed for the long term. Through this initiative, pantry leadership created a plan that would help build out various infrastructure needs. We received additional shelving for the newly enclosed space and an additional pallet jack with a scale. Through this process, Wintergarden was designated as a "Pantry of Excellence" and was one of three recipients to receive a refrigerated van! This van has served many amazing purposes for our food pantry. It has served as an additional freezer or refrigerator when we have an abundance of food. Our retail team takes the van to due multiple food pick ups every week. And it serves as a reminder that it takes many partners to feed our community. We are incredibly thankful for the partnership with Harry Chapin Food Bank for the opportunity to participate in this initiative and so blessed by Walmart Foundation and Feeding America.
